The CBS drama “NCIS” – the top-rated prime-time series – will literally kick off with a BANG when it premieres Sept. 20, and The ENQUIRER has uncovered highlights of the hit show’s ninth season.
An agent will die, popular character Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard will find love, and lab geek Abby Sciuto will discover her long-lost brother.
Some exciting new guest stars will join the show – includ­ing comic Lily Tomlin, “Party of Five” star Scott Wolf and Jamie Lee Curtis – along with the return of Robert Wagner and Ralph Waite.
In the pre­miere episode “Nature of the Beast,” Special Agent Tony DiNoz­zo, played by Michael Weatherly, ends up with blood on his hands – from a dead agent!  The episode flashes back to last season’s finale when a killer was gunned down and Tony was handed a mysterious mission.
“We’re going to start theshow in real time in September, look back to May, and then jump through Tony’s assignment,” said producer Gary Glasberg.
Tony spends months tracking a mole who’s leaking NCIS in­telligence, and is left feeling guilty over the death of his colleague.  Finally, Special Agent Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, helps him solve the complex puzzle.
In another twist, brainy goth-punk forensic specialist Abby – played by Pauley Perrette – will discover her long lost brother!  The source concluded: “All in all, this will be a season that ‘NCIS’ fans won’t soon forget!”
